Leicester Fans Bring City To Standstill As Players Pop Out For Pizza
Leicester City fans brought the city centre to a standstill today as the club's players celebrated their Premier League title with lunch at a pizzeria.
Hundreds of excited supporters gathered outside San Carlo Pizzeria in Leicester as the newly-crowned champions marked their fairytale achievement.
The players, whose manager Claudio Ranieri is Italian, were surrounded by fans, police and security guards as they entered and left the restaurant.
It was a special moment for a team who were famously rewarded with pizza by Ranieri in October following their first clean sheet of their title-winning season.
The Thai-owned club's chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and top scorer Jamie Vardy were among those dining out at the award-winning restaurant.
Meanwhile, the club's official store at the King Power Stadium has sold out of nearly all its merchandise this afternoon.

If there were a few sore heads at the club's training ground this morning it didn't show, as the players laughed and joked with each other despite partying until 4.30am.
Players including club captain Wes Morgan - who appeared to be in much the same outfit as the night before - were seen arriving for training at around 10am this morning following a remarkable 5,000/1 storybook ending which ranks among the greatest sporting feats of all time.
Star striker Vardy was the first to be seen as he emerged from his £1million mansion hours after he and his teammates toasted their club's first ever top-flight title in their 132-year history.

The 29-year-old - who was this morning seen being driven to training - hosted a gathering at his home last night, and his dream that it would turn into a title party was realised when Tottenham Hotspur could only manage a draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
It signalled the start of wild celebrations as he and tens of thousands of fans in Leicester and across the world partied the night away in honour of the unlikeliest of feats.
Many of the club's players left Vardy's late last night before heading to Club Republic in Leicester city centre. There they were greeted and congratulated by jubilant supporters before heading home in the early hours looking a little worse for wear.
LEICESTER CITY CLUB SHOP IS EMPTIED AS FANS SNAP UP AS MUCH MERCHANDISE AS THEY CAN FOR TITLE WIN Leicester City's club shop has pretty much sold out of merchandise as jubilant fans snapped up as many goods to celebrate their side's title-winning season.
The shelves at the Premier League champions' official store were looking empty, with only a few mugs and footballs available to buy.
Walls which used to be covered by replica shirts on the racks are now completely bare.
The Foxes have seen a huge increase in demand for their merchandise following Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur last night.
The draw at Stamford Bridge meant that Leicester were crowned as champions of England - against all odds.
Last night fans partied on the streets of Leicester, outside the King Power Stadium and outside Jamie Vardy Melton Mowbray home, until the early hours of this morning.
At the start of the season, and again in October, the bookies priced them at 5000/1 to win the league.
To put it in to context - it was just as likely as aliens landing in the UK, the Loch Ness monster being discovered and Elvis Presley being alive and well.

Among those pictured out on the town were Morgan, striker Leonardo Ulloa, defenders Danny Simpson and Robert Huth, goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, England international Danny Drinkwater and Ghanaian winger Jeffrey Schlupp.
First thing this morning Vardy's fiancée Rebekah Nicholson, 33, was the first to be pictured leaving the home she shares with the England international, as she took her children to school.
Ms Nicholson, who is due to marry Vardy when the season ends, looked casual as she was seen leaving the property in charcoal jeans, a pink jumper and a baseball cap, while hiding behind a pair of large sunglasses.

It appears there may be a few sore heads at Leicester City's training ground today after the club's players continued their title-winning party by visiting a local nightclub. Not long after, Vardy himself left looking rather bleary-eyed. He wore a black hoodie and tracksuit bottoms, while carrying several bags and a bottle of the energy drink Lucozade.
Spurs had to win to keep the title race alive, but despite taking a 2-0 lead were pegged back to 2-2 in West London, sparking wild scenes of euphoria in Leicester as the city's club were crowned champions with two league games to spare.
Fans went wild at the final whistle, while pictures and videos also emerged of the jubilant players at Vardy's house. He and his teammates were seen jumping around singing 'Championes' as soon as it was confirmed Leicester City had won their first top-flight title in the club's 132-year history.
Toasting his success with a glass of bubbly, victorious Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri was swept back into Britain by one of the club's glamorous directors last night after visiting his mother in Italy.
The 64-year-old Italian manager flew to his native Rome on Sunday for his mother Renata's 96th birthday, before returning home on a £43million Gulfstream G650 jet into East Midlands Airport.

And Foxes executive director Supornthip Choungrangsee posted a picture on Instagram overnight of her with Ranieri in the jet, which belongs to the club's owner Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.
Captioning the picture in the jet, which can fly non-stop from the Far East to Britain and was bought from Bernie Ecclestone's wife Fabiana Flosi, she wrote: 'We are the champion in premiere league.'
The jet helped Ranieri - and his antiques dealer wife Rosanna - make it back to the UK in time for last night's crucial match.
At the final whistle, hundreds of supporters then congregated outside Vardy's home to cheer on their heroes, accompanied by drivers who beeped their horns in celebration. Some parties in Leicester's city centre even spilled out onto the streets as supporters could not hide their delight.
Leicester had been rank outsiders after narrowly avoiding relegation last season, and barely a year ago were bottom of the league, but the 'David' club beat the Goliaths of English football in one of the most unlikely triumphs ever seen in world sport.
To put their title win into context, bookmakers were offering shorter odds for Elvis to be found alive and well and even for Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to be crowned the winner of Big Brother than the price for Leicester to top the Premier League come the end of the season.
But a draw between their last remaining rivals Tottenham and last year's champions Chelsea made it mathematically impossible for anyone to stop their dream from becoming a reality.
Leicester's bank balance will profit from the benefits that champions enjoy in the months to come.
For simply competing in the Champions League group stage, the club will receive £9.3million while each win will further line their pockets to the tune of £1.2million. Even a draw at Europe's top table generates £390,000.
Added to that is a slice of the TV revenue drawn from BT Sport's massive £897million three-year investment in European football.

The pot for 2016-17 stands at around £75million and the champions will receive the lion's share — about 40 per cent.
Even if Leicester go out at the first stage without picking up a point, they will still earn close to £40million. That is before revenue from three guaranteed home games and additional sponsorship are factored in.
Winning the Premier League title has also handed them around £90million in prize money.
Manager Ranieri, meanwhile, is set to seal a £5million bonus by virtue of his clause to receive £100,000 for every place he finishes above the relegation zone.
Leicester City fans are now carrying on their celebrations into a second day after what has been described as the most unlikely triumph in team sport.
Manager Claudio Ranieri mustered an 'I feel good' when quizzed by reporters at the side's training ground on Tuesday morning, with fans across the city also revelling in the astonishing title win.
Outside the King Power Stadium, cars were driving past beeping their horns with others blaring Queen's We Are The Champions while jubilant fans sang 'Championes!' and, ironically, 'We are staying up!'

Fans watching the match on Monday evening at the Local Hero pub in Aylestone Road were looking glum as Spurs raced to a 2-0 lead at half time, but dared to dream during the last 10 minutes knowing a draw would be enough to see the Foxes claim the title.
The party started shortly after Eden Hazard grabbed an 83rd minute equaliser for Chelsea.
The celebrations then poured out from the bars and pubs in the city and on to the streets, with thousands congregating in the city centre and outside the King Power Stadium.
Flares were lit, chants of 'Leicester till I die' rang out, and men selling Champions flags were doing a swift trade.
Among those in the crowd was Stuart Hamilton, 68, who stayed out until 2am.
Speaking on Tuesday morning, he said: 'I just didn't want the party to stop. I can't put into words how it felt when that final whistle went.
'I've been following this club through thick and thin - and it's been more thin - but just to say the words 'Leicester City are champions' is phenomenal.
'You've got to credit the manager and the whole team for this and the fans too. The city as a whole can be so proud of what the club has done.'
The league win, which was a 5,000/1 shot at the start of the season, is expected to be worth around £22million to the city's economy next season, the East Midlands Chamber said.
LEICESTER FAN WINS BIG ON £5 STAKE: DRUNKEN BET EARNS CARPENTER AN 'ICING ON THE CAKE' £20,000 PAYOUT Winning a £20,000 drunken bet on Leicester City's Premier League victory was the 'icing on the cake' for one lucky fan.
Leigh Herbert, from Enderby, south Leicester, placed a £5 stake on his team winning at odds of 5,000/1 in August last year.
After the Foxes secured the title when Chelsea drew with Tottenham on Sunday, the 39-year-old bagged £20,600.
'It has really not sunk in, I know it has happened but I still have this nervous feeling going around in my stomach,' said the carpenter.
Optimistic: Leigh Herbert (pictured), from Leicester, placed a £5 stake on his team winning at odds of 5,000/1 in August last year
'I thought they would do well but not in my wildest dreams did I think they would be two games from the end of the season and be Premier League champions.'
Mr Herbert said he cashed out £2 of his bet just over a month ago, taking home £5,600, because it 'all got a bit much' - but he has now won a further £15,000.
He said he will spend some of the 'life-changing amount' on a party and will save the rest for a deposit on a house.
A Leicester fan for more than 25 years, he said he never lost faith in his team and is looking forward to seeing them lift the trophy
'In a way I am so glad it is over because I can just relax again,' said Mr Herbert, who has not watched Leicester's last few games because of the emotional toll.
'This last month it has been so hard. Because you are being given the cash out option, if it went wrong I would have lost all the money.'
A Leicester fan for more than 25 years, he said he never lost faith in his team and is looking forward to seeing them lift the trophy.
He added: 'I am more than happy with what I have got, I am more than happy that Leicester have won the Premier League - winning the money is just the icing on the cake.
'You could spend £20,000 in a day if you really wanted to, but I am never ever going to forget Leicester winning the league.'

But fans have said the feeling at watching their side pick up the Premier League trophy at their next home game against Everton on Saturday will be priceless.
Harry Phillips, a 21-year-old student, said: 'I woke up this morning and had to check my phone because I thought I was dreaming.
'I saw dozens of photos from last night with thousands of people celebrating and realised it wasn't and it was like I felt that feeling of us being champions again.
'Saturday is just going to be a party. No other word for it. The whole city will be rocking.'
Speaking last night, one neighbour of Vardy's said: 'No one will mind if they make a lot of noise tonight. The lads have been tremendous.
'It's a fairytale ending no one, probably least of all Leicester fans, even expected. It's going to be a walloping party across Leicester tonight.'
Two burly security guards stood outside Vardy's sprawling gated mansion last night.
As the full-time whistle blew, hundreds of Foxes fans cheered in celebration, chanting 'We're all going on a European Tour'.
Lifelong Leicester fans James Upton, 63, and his wife Vikki, 58, moved from Melton, Leicestershire, 28 years ago to Perth in Australia.
James, a decorator, said: 'I can't believe it. The whole country is with them.

Exiled Leicester City fans have also been revelling in their club making headlines across the world following a fairytale season.
LEICESTER CITY WINNING THE PREMIER LEAGUE WAS AS LIKELY AS ALIENS LANDING IN THE UNITED KINGDOM Leicester City supporters celebrate after the English Premier League soccer match between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur
It was as likely as Fifa deciding to hold the 2026 World Cup in Antarctica, the Loch Ness monster being discovered, or aliens landing in the UK.
Many bookies were quoting odds of 5000/1 for Leicester City to win the Premier League back in August.
Nine months and an historic season later, and bookmakers predict the Foxes' title win will cost the industry between £10 and £20 million.
Ladbrokes sent its congratulations to 47 customers who had backed Leicester to win at 5000/1. William Hill said 25 customers took those odds with the largest stake £20 from a customer in Manchester and the smallest 5p from a woman in Edinburgh. Its biggest winner was a customer from Guildford, Surrey, who staked £75 when the odds were 1500/1 and will win £112,500.
But despite the bumper pay-day for those shrewd enough to have foreseen Claudio Ranieri's side beating the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham to the title, the bookies have said the era of longshot prices is not over.
Jessica Bridge from Ladbrokes said: 'This is the biggest sporting upset since David beat Goliath, and we can only doff our cap to the brave punters who had the foresight and confidence to part ways with their cash on the Leicester City fairytale ending happily ever after.'
She said Ladbrokes would be paying out £3million to customers 'with a huge smile'.
'We've been in this game for 130 years and we've never seen anything like this, it's a story for the romantics and whilst it's going to cost us a few quid, we have to thank Claudio Ranieri and his team for upsetting the odds week in, week out over the last nine months,' she added.
The bookies are offering the same 5000/1 odds on the 2026 World Cup being held on the coldest continent in the world, Nessie being found and aliens landing in the UK.
Shorter odds are being given on David Cameron becoming manager of Aston Villa (2500/1), any future movie on Leicester City or star striker Jamie Vardy winning an Oscar (1000/1) and Jose Mourinho to go on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! (1000/1).
Ladbrokes said 47 punters took bets at 5000/1 on Leicester winning the title - with more than half having cashed out.
Among them was Foxes fan Jon Pryke who staked £20 and cashed out for nearly £30,000 in March.
Speaking at the time, he said: 'It's been a crazy season, I'd be silly not to take my money and run.
'£29,000 is a huge amount of money and I'd be silly ignore it. Not bad from £20.'
One punter who let his bet ride is Chelsea fan Ryan Wallis, who placed £4 on a Leicester title win at 2000/1 with Coral in mid-August.
He said: 'It's been a memorable ride this season following Leicester. They were playing really well at the start of the season so I thought they were worth having a few quid on given their long odds.'
Coral said Leicester's league triumph is the biggest sporting upset in history and they will pay out £3 million.
Student Karishma Kapoor holds her betting slip with odds of 5,000/1 for Leicester City winning the Premier League title
John Hill from the firm said he would be surprised to see 'too many' 5000/1 prices at the start of the season.
He said: 'The big lesson the bookmakers will learn from this result though will be to react quicker to a team getting off to a flying start.
'Despite the Foxes starting the 2015/16 campaign well, you could still back them at four-figures in November.'
Mr Hill said the Foxes are currently 33/1 to win two league titles in a row but their fans' celebrations might be slightly dampened by the news Coral consider them more likely to get relegated than to be holding the Premier League trophy aloft next May.
He said: 'Although Leicester have been given much more respect in the outright betting for next season, they still have six clubs ahead of them in that market and their odds are shorter to be relegated.'
And a Champions League win? You can back Jamie Vardy and the team to dominate on the continent next season for 100/1.

The exploits of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and others have taken the footballing world by storm with fans based thousands of miles from the King Power staying up late or getting up early to follow their team.
Among them is Max Bourne, a 34-year-old television producer, who splits his time between New York and Canada and has been following Claudio Ranieri's team from all over the world.
He said: 'Losing on Valentine's Day against Arsenal after an 8am start was perhaps not the best present I could have received or given but my girlfriend has been incredibly understanding and has even started supporting the club.'
Mr Bourne, who went to see games at Filbert Street with his father and brother, said the Leicester love has been spreading overseas.
He said: 'The best response I had was in a cab in a small village in Mexico, the guy asked where I was from and I told him Leicester, his face immediately lit up and he said 'Jamie Vardy!'
'New York has yet to catch on to Leicester but I'm doing my best to tell everyone about it and the supporters club the New York Foxes are doing their best to spread the word.'
Nearly 6,000 miles away from the East Midlands city, a group of Tokyo-based Foxes fans have been meeting up to watch the historic season unfold.

Watching the games live has led to a number of sacrifices with kick off times ranging from 10pm to 4am in Japan.
Mr Komagata said: 'Most Japanese supporters go to their job or school with sleep deprivation next morning.

Steve Kendall, 59, is originally from Wigston but now lives more than 5,000 miles away in Pasadena, California and said that people have stopped him to talk about Leicester's success.
He said: 'In the eight years I have lived here I have often worn my shirt and in previous years had the very occasional comment. This season it's been so different.
'So many people now know about and recognise the Leicester shirt.
'I was in Trader Joes supermarket today buying some Weetabix and the guy stacking the shelf kept me talking for 10 minutes telling me how he was trying to explain to his American friends how big an achievement Leicester's season was.'
THE MAN WHO TURNED LEICESTER CITY INTO THE CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND - CLAUDIO RANIERI The Italian had a 13-year playing career, where he starred for his boyhood heroes Roma (pictured), Catanzaro, Catania and Palermo
By Anthony Joseph and Nicholas Godden for MailOnline
Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri was born in San Saba in Rome on October 20, 1951 and began playing football at his local church.
He was a lifelong fan of Roma and childhood friends described him as being quiet and reserved.
The Italian had a 13-year playing career, where he starred for his boyhood heroes Roma, Catanzaro, Catania and Palermo.
His family home is still in Italy and he is constantly travelling back and forth from the UK. He even spent last night in Rome after taking his 96-year-old mother out for lunch, before returning to England as a title-winning boss.
The new Premier League winning manager, now 64, is married to antiques dealer Dr Rosanna Ranieri, who he describes as a saint.
He told the Leicester Mercury last year: 'My wife is a saint, an absolute saint. When I am not working she tells me to relax and go on holiday, but it is not a holiday for me.
'My holiday is now when I work hard every day, from 8am to 8pm. My mind is racing and always thinking about football.
'When there is a little holiday then I enjoy that for a couple of weeks but when it is three or four months that is no holiday for me. I love to work.
'I have hobbies. I love films and music, but above all I love football. Football is my life. My wife says 'you no work now, come,' but she knows it is my hobby, my life.'
In 1986 he began his managerial career, which has had its ups and down - but has proved much more successful than his playing days.
It was at third tier Cagliari that Ranieri made a name for himself as a coach. He led the Italian side to the top flight with consecutive promotions, clinching the Serie C1 title and cup in the 1988-89 campaign.
After guiding the club to safety during their first season in Serie A, Ranieri had plenty of suitors and decided to leave the club and join Napoli.
Ranieri led Napoli to a fourth-placed finish during his first season, earning qualification to the UEFA Cup. His second season wasn't so successful, though.
Napoli finished the season way down in 11th place, only two points above the relegation zone. Ranieri was sacked that summer.
The 64-year-old dropped back down to Serie B to join Fiorentina ahead of the 1993-94 season. He won the second tier to see the Viola promoted to Serie A.
He went on to win the Coppa Italia, his first major trophy as a coach. Ranieri also got his hands on the Italian Supercoppa (the Italian Charity Shield) at the start of the 1996-97 season. His last with the club.
Ranieiri left Fiorentina and said goodbye Italy to take charge of Valencia in La Liga. During his first full season at the club they finished ninth,a slight improvement on the previous campaign.

At Fiorentina, Ranieri won his first major trophy as a coach - the Coppa Italia, before resigning in 1997. Ranieri is unlikely to look back at Atletico Madrid as a successful part of his career - he lasted less than a year
The following season Ranieri led Valencia, who had Santiago Canizares and Gaizka Mendieta in the side, to a fourth place finish and qualification to the Champions League. Valencia also won the Copa del Rey the same season.
Ranieri left Valencia and joined Atletico Madrid ahead of the 1999-00 season but endured a disastrous nine months in charge at Vicente Calderon.
Ranieri was sacked with the club languishing near the bottom of the table. Atleti were unable to recover and dropped out of the top flight.
It was during his four years in England that Ranieri picked up the nickname 'The Tinkerman' following criticism for over-rotating his squad. He led Chelsea to a an FA Cup final in 2002 and was also responsible for signing club legend Frank Lampard.
In 2003, Chelsea were taken over by Roman Abramovich and Ranieri splashed £120million on new talent that summer. He broke club records for highest points and fewest goals conceded on their way to finishing runner-up. It wasn't enough and Ranieri was sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Ranieri made a bright start during his second stint at the club, but they soon hit a slump that saw them eliminated from the Champions League and slip down the table. Ranieri was sacked in February just seven months into a three-year contract.
After two years away from management Ranieri returned to take charge of Parma in February 2007 following the sacking of Stefano Pioli.
The club were facing the threat of relegation but an impressive run of results that saw Parma take 17 points from 10 games was enough to steer them to safety.
After guiding Parma to safety Ranieri was a wanted man again. He was heavily linked with taking over at Manchester City, but he remained in Italy and was named Juventus coach on a three-year deal.
The Italian boss took two years away from management, before returning to take charge of Parma in 2007. Ranieri grew up supporting Roma and he got the chance to manage them at the start of the 2009-10 season
At Inter Milan, Ranieri started well with a run of seven straight league wins, but the team faded after that
Ranieri led Monaco to the Ligue 2 title, before taking them to second - behind PSG - in Ligue 1 the following year
During his first season with Juve, who were back in Serie A for the first time following the Calciopoli scandal that saw them relegated to Serie B, Ranieri led the club to a very respectable third place finish. The following season Ranieri engaged in a war of word with Inter boss Jose Mourinho and a run of one win in seven games left him fighting for his job. He was sacked at the end of the season.
Ranieri was appointed coach of Roma, the club he had grown up supporting, two games into the 2009-10 season after Luciano Spalletti had suddenly resigned.
That season Ranieri was again in a battle with Mourinho's Inter Milan. Roma led the championship going inot eh final weeks of the season but were pipped to the title by Inter and also lost to them in the Coppa Italia final. Ranieri resigned midway through the following season.
Ranieri took over Inter Milan after Gian Piero Gasperino was sacked after losing four of the first five games of the season. Inter put together a run of seven straight league wins in December and January as talk of a tittle challenge surfaced.
In his first - and so far only - job in international management, Ranieri took charge of Greece for five months
After joining Leicester City last year, he was favourite to be sacked at the start of the season with most bookies
That soon died down after a poor run of results and Ranieri left the club by mutual consent before the end of the season.
Ranieri took over at cash-rich Monaco in the summer of 2012 and led them to the Ligue 2 title for the first time in their history.
In their first season back in Ligue 1 Ranieri led the principality club to second, finishing runner-up to Paris Saint-Germain. It wasn't enough to save his job though and he was sacked with the club's sporting director wanting to take the club in a different direction.
Ranieri took over the Greece national side after 2014 World Cup, signing a two-year contract But he was in charge for just five months before being sacked.
The Italian lost his job after suffering a humiliating 1-0 home defeat by the Faroe Islands in a Euro 2016 qualifier.

His first taste of Leicester City was in 1965 when his father took him to see the Foxes lose 5-0 against Manchester United.
Speaking about this season, he said: 'It's all Roy of the Rovers stuff and if you were writing it as a story you would be told to stop exaggerating.'
Philip Herbert, 35, from Cape Town, South Africa, rallied against his Manchester United-supporting father to back the Blues and said he has found this season 'unbelievable'.
He said: 'I started supporting Leicester City when I was 14 years old and it was around the time that Leicester City was fighting for entry to the Premier League.
'I just enjoyed the ethos and passion of the club lived through players like Steve Walsh.'
The management consultant added: 'As a Leicester City supporter, we have been waiting for the bubble to burst because we are used to the highs and lows of a season, but every week the team just defy the odds.
'Watching this season, has been unbelievable especially in terms of what we achieved last season with the great escape, we were merely hoping for a mid-table finish. That would have been less stressful but Leicester City does not do it the normal way.'
LIKE FATHER LIKE SON: KASPER SCHMEICHEL IS A PREMIER LEAGUE WINNER JUST LIKE HIS DAD PETER... THE LEICESTER KEEPER AND MANCHESTER UNITED LEGEND WON THEIR FIRST TITLES ON THE SAME DAY 23 YEARS APART Kasper Schmeichel has long been compared to his father Peter and now the Leicester goalkeeper can add another similarity to that list after he became a Premier League winner on Monday night.
In a scary coincidence, the Schmeichels won their first league titles - both aged 29, on the same bank holiday Monday, 23-years apart and ironically neither had to set foot on the pitch to get the job done.
With Tottenham surrendering a two-goal lead to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Foxes players watched from the comfort of Jamie Vardy's house as Spurs, quite literally imploded in a bad-tempered 2-2 draw.
Father Peter and his son Kasper have both won their first league titles bizzarley on Bank Holiday Monday
The former Manchester United goalkeeper changed his Twitter bio to acknowledge his son's achievement
History has also been made by the pair, who have become only the second father and son, after Arsenal forward Ian Wright and former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips to both be crowned champions.
Leicester - who had only just avoided relegation the season before, are the first 'new' winners of the English top flight in 38 years - the last first-time champions were Nottingham Forest back in 1978.
Delighted by his boy's spectacular accomplishment, the Old Trafford hero amusingly changed his Twitter bio in recognition of the achievement to make it read: 'Father to a Premier League winner.'
Back in 1993, Manchester United were striving for their first league title under Sir Alex Ferguson, nearest rivals Aston Villa were at home to Oldham, 24 hours ahead of United's game with Blackburn.
Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel is now a Premier League winner just like his father Peter did 23 years ago
Arsenal legend Ian Wright and son Shaun Wright-Phillips (R) were the first father and son to achieve the feat
With Ferguson preferring a round of golf instead of taking in the action, Oldham pulled off a shock 1-0 victory thanks to a Nick Henry strike, hours later United who were already safe in the knowledge they had won the league, comfortably strolled to a 3-1 scoreline.
With 22 clean sheets that season, Schmeichel senior was an instrumental figure in helping United win a first title in 26 years and the £505.000 signing from Danish side Brondby would go onto be voted the world's best goalkeeper.
That triumph marked the first of five Premier League winners' medals for the great Dane and although the Leicester No 1 has some way to go before he can match that feat, the satisfaction of his first, will be one he saviours forever.
At the King Power Stadium on Saturday, win, lose or draw against Everton, the goalkeeper who has longed for the day in which to emulate his famous heritage, can at last be judged purely on his own merit.

Jake Ion, 19, said: 'It's been an amazing season - we'll never see anything like it.'
Kimberley Brainer, 22, said: 'I don't know whether to laugh or cry - I knew I was going to have a meltdown. You've got to give credit to (Claudio) Ranieri, he's been amazing.'
Gary Clarke, 51, a fan of Leicester City's rivals Nottingham Forest, said: 'It's football, it's magic. It reminds me of Brian Clough in the 1970s and 80s for Forest.'
Claudio Ranieri said: 'I'm so proud. I'm happy for my players, for the chairman, for the staff at Leicester City, all our fans and the Leicester community. It's an amazing feeling and I'm so happy for everyone.
'I never expected this when I arrived. I'm a pragmatic man, I just wanted to win match after match and help my players to improve week after week. Never did I think too much about where it would take us.
'The players have been fantastic. Their focus, their determination, their spirit has made this possible. Every game they fight for each other and I love to see this in my players. They deserve to be champions.'

Leicester City spent last season languishing at the bottom of the table and were expected by some to be relegated this year.
Tottenham had to win last night to stop Leicester claiming the title. But after drawing 2-2 with Chelsea it means the points gap between the two clubs is now too large for Spurs to overhaul.
Leicester have played 36 games and have 77 points, while Tottenham have 70 with just six points available for them to win.
Bookmakers revealed they were expected to lose around £50million with the Foxes capping a fairytale season by winning the title, having priced the team as rank outsiders at 5,000/1 to win the league when the season began last August.

It is a remarkable story for the club, which has never won the top league, and appointed their manager, Claudio Ranieri who had been sacked from his previous job with Greece.
This weekend the prominent colour in the shop windows and in the streets is the team's blue and white. And the city's chamber of commerce estimate that a year in the Champions League following league victory would boost the local economy by £16million.
Should the Foxes pull off the unthinkable, it will rank as one of the greatest achievements in the sport's history.
'Once in a life it can happen,' Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri said on Friday as he contemplated the prospect of Leicester winning their first top-flight title. 'That is football. Once every 50 years a little team with less money can beat the biggest.'
Meanwhile, one Indian restaurant owner in the city had said he would offer madras, masala, jalfrezi or bhuna specials to the first 1,000 season ticket holders who rush down to the Spice Bazzar if Wes Morgan lifts the Premier League trophy.
Abdul Giash admitted it would cost him 'thousands' but says it's a 'once-in-a-lifetime experience'.

MEET LITTLE CLAUDIO: DIE-HARD LEICESTER CITY FANS PAY THE ULTIMATE TRIBUTE TO SIDE'S ITALIAN MAESTRO It is fair to say that Leicester City fans have be fawning over manager Claudio Ranieri this season as he led them to the most unlikely of title triumphs.
But it is fair to say that one couple from the city has gone further than most in proving their admiration for the affable Italian, by naming their newborn after him.
Foxes fans Lindsay and Jake Hill have named their newborn son Daniel George Claudio Hill as a pointed reminder of the memorable year in which the little one was born.
The youngster was born on Friday at 9.20am at Leicester Royal Infirmary, weighing 5lb 7oz.

Leicester set to bank staggering £170million after sealing Premier League title victory as boss Claudio Ranieri pockets £5million bonus
By Laurie Whitwell for MailOnline
Leicester's bank balance will profit from the benefits that champions enjoy in the months to come.
For simply competing in the Champions League group stage, Leicester will receive £9.3million while each win will further line their pockets to the tune of £1.2million. Even a draw at Europe's top table generates £390,000.
Added to that is a slice of the TV revenue drawn from BT Sport's massive £897million three-year investment in European football. The pot for 2016-17 stands at around £75million and the champions will receive the lion's share — about 40 per cent.
Integral part of the success: Leicester striker Jamie Vardy (centre) has been crucial to his side's historic title victory this season
PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez has dazzled with his mazy runs and stunning goals this season
All this means that if Leicester go out at the first stage without picking up a point, they will still earn close to £40million.
That is before revenue from three guaranteed home games and additional sponsorship are factored in.
Winning the Premier League title has also handed them around £90million in prize money.
This is £10million short of what Chelsea earned last season and but likely to be less than Tottenham, Arsenal, and the two Manchester clubs would have got this term because Leicester have not been on TV as frequently.
Each time a club is shown live by Sky or BT Sport they receive a set fee (nearly £800,000 per match last season).
But it is only recently that the two broadcasters have started to regularly select Leicester games.
In the first half of the season, just four of their games were shown live.

A Leicester supporter celebrates his side's incredible Premier League title victory on Monday night
Second-placed Tottenham's 2-2 draw at Chelsea confirmed the Foxes' first-ever top-flight crown
Next season that will change, however. Leicester will benefit from being a side everyone wants to watch. Match-day and retail income will also go up from the £30million banked in the 2014-15.
Conservatively, they can expect to bring in an estimated £170million from their title victory, representing a staggering growth from the £31.2million generated in their Championship-winning season of 2013-14. In 2012-13 that figure was just £19.6million.
Costs will inevitably rise too, with players' salaries increasing. Last season, staff costs across the club amounted to £57million — up from £36.3million in 2013-14 — and new contracts for Mahrez and Kante, each on around £40,000 per week, are essential.
Wes Morgan and Danny Simpson will have one year left on their contracts in the summer, while Kasper Schmeichel, Marc Albrighton, and Danny Drinkwater have two years remaining.
Manager Claudio Ranieri, meanwhile, is set to seal a £5million bonus by virtue of his clause to receive £100,000 for every place he finishes above the relegation zone.
Jamie Vardy signed a new deal in February, initially worth around £80,000 per week and his earning potential, like others, will be enhanced.
A bidding war took place for the rights to Vardy's autobiography, with advance offers from publishers in excess of £500,000.
Forget Coleen, now it's all about Leicester City WAGS! Meet the midwife, reality star and Kim Kardashian lookalike cheering their partners on in what has been a nailbiting race to the title
By Jo Tweedy for MailOnline
Anyone with even a passing interest in football will admit to being hooked by the straight-out-of-Hollywood tale of Leicester City's Premier League campaign this season.
The underdogs, known as the Foxes, pulled off one of the most astonishing achievements in the history of the game after securing their first ever top-flight title last night.
However, while the wives and girlfriends at other, higher-profile football clubs might already be in the public eye - think Coleen Rooney, Abbey Clancy and Alex Gerrard - the Leicester WAGS have been distinctly below the radar. Until now, that is.
Here's our low-down on the women who have been cheering on the East Midlands club's players to glory...a dream that was realised when Tottenham drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in West London.

THE REALITY TELEVISION STAR
WAG on the beach: Reality star Ashleigh Defty has reportedly found love with Leicester City player, Danny Simpson but the pair have been keeping their romance under wraps during football season
ASHLEIGH DEFTY AND DANNY SIMPSON
High profile couplings in the Leicester squad are relatively rare so the news that 29-year-old right back Danny Simpson is stepping out with reality starlet Ashleigh Defty, 21, have made the gossip columns this week.
According to a source close to the couple, it's 'early days' but Ashleigh, who appeared on hit show Ex On The Beach, has apparently already 'started referring to him as her boyfriend.'
A real player: Danny enjoyed a brief romance with Vicky Pattison in 2014 and the pair were friends for years before their dalliance. Right, the right back, 29, also dated Tulisa at the height of her X Factor fame
Ashleigh previously dated Celebrity Big Brother winner Scotty T for two years before he entered the Geordie Shore house, and the pair grew close again during their stint on Ex On The Beach.
Meanwhile, Danny enjoyed a high profile romance with Tulisa Contostavlos for six months in the summer of 2013.
But the former X Factor host was less than complimentary after their split, claiming the Premier League player was no match for her 'celebrity or intellect'. Miaow.
THE KIM KARDASHIAN LOOKALIKE
Happily married: The British model, who bears a striking resemblance to Kim Kardashian, is married to French footballer Riyad Mahrez, the Premier League's new Player of the Year
Devoted: 'My right side' is how Rita Johal, 24, captured this amusing photo of her with her husband Mahrez, 25
RITA MAHREZ AND RIYAD MAHREZ
Riyad Mahrez is football's newest king: the unassuming winger who rose from the anonymity of Leicester City's dressing room to become the Premier League's player of the year in just 12 months.
His wife, Rita Mahrez, mother of the couple's six-month-old baby Inaya - a name with Arabic origins meaning help, care and protection, is a stunning 24-year-old former businesswoman who bears more than a passing resemblance to reality television star Kim Kardashian.
Yet the beautiful brunette, who married Leicester star Mahrez in a secret ceremony just eight months ago, does not court the limelight.
She was not seen publicly at the recent PFA ceremony where her husband was flown by helicopter to accept his Player of the Year award, and has never discussed their relationship.
She is partial to an Instagram love letter though and has been gushing in her support of Riyad on the social media site, where she regularly posts loving messages of support to the Premier League star - or, as she called him in one recent post, 'my right side'.
In another picture, posted to a fan site, Mahrez appears to refer to her as his 'left side'. Aaah!

Surprise: Long-haired Rita wed Mahrez in August 2015, just a few months before the arrival of their daughter, Inaya. She is clearly settling into married life well - this selfie is captioned 'dinner with hubby'
Swamped: Life has certainly changed for Mahrez, who was crowned the toast of English football last night after being named PFA Player of the Year. But with fame has come restrictions - including being unable to go out shopping with his wife and daughter
THE STAR STRIKER'S SOON-TO-BE BRIDE
The soon-to-be Mr and Mrs Vardy have seen their profiles rocket this season after Jamie couldn't stop scoring
The glamorous brunette will walk down the aisle with her footballing beau as soon as the season ends
BECKY NICHOLSON AND JAMIE VARDY
If Hollywood makes the rumoured film of Leicester's unthinkable victory, then Jamie Vardy, once released from his professional footballing contract only to claw his way back to the top and prove instrumental to the club's campaign, will be the stand-out star.
His fiancée, Becky, 33, is perhaps the most recognisable of the Leicester WAGS, thanks to a fling with Peter Andre. Of her dalliance with the singing star back in 2001, she told The Sun: 'He was the worst lover I've had.'
With her own management team and a forthcoming wedding to Vardy when the season ends, Becky is likely to be enjoying her moment in the WAG spotlight for seasons to come.
Just don't mention Peter: Becky Nicholson once revealed to The Sun that she'd slept with Peter Andre in 2001...but called the presenter 'the worst lover' she'd ever had

THE CLEAN-CUT MIDWIFE
STINE GYLDENBRAND AND KASPER SCHMEICHEL
Marrying into a goalkeeping dynasty - Leicester goalie Kasper Schmeichel is the son of former Manchester United legend Peter - you might expect Danish beauty Stine Gyldenbrand to sit back and reap the rewards of being a WAG.
Not the case here; Gyldenbrand combines flaxen-haired good looks with brains. After graduating as a midwife at the University of Chester in 2009, she has worked as a midwife at a hospital near Birmingham.
The couple have two children together, Isabella and Max, and started their own foundation, The Gyldenbrand Schmeichel Foundation, in 2012.
So close! Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is the son of Manchester United legend Peter, himself a Premier League champion
A wholesome-looking couple! Stine has kept working at her midwifery career even while dating the star shot-stopper. The couple have their own charity: The Gyldenbrand Schmeichel Foundation
THE ANTI-TERROR CAMPAIGNER
Chloe Fulford, 24, and boyfriend Mark Albrighton, who plays as a winger for the title-chasing club
CHLOE LEA FULFORD AND MARK ALBRIGHTON
Chloe Fulford, 24, who lives with Leicester winger Albrighton in the West Midlands was caught up in a terrorist tragedy when her mother Sue Davey, 44, and her 42-year-old partner Scott Chalkley were killed in the 2015 terror attacks. The couple had been celebrating buying a house when they were gunned down.
Mother of Albrighton's two daughters, Matilda-Beau and Dollie-Boo, Fulford has frequently used her Twitter profile to add her voice to the war on terror including tweeting Prime Minister David Cameron and protesting against a Panorama programme which showed footage of the shootings.
Chloe tragically lost her mother in the 2015 Tunisia terror bombings and has been vocal on social media about the war on terror since the attacks
OTHER KEY WAGS IN THE LEICESTER CITY SQUAD
ROXI LEE AND LIAM MOORE
Roxi Lee pictured with centre-back boyfriend Liam Moore, who's currently gunning for glory with the Leicester squad
Another WAG happy to be out of the spotlight, Roxi Lee keeps her Twitter account private although she does call her daughter 'my world' and fiance Liam Moore 'my future' in her profile.
Set to wed former England U21 star Moore, 23, the couple already have a daughter, Milah Monroe Moore, who was born in September 2015.
Liam is clearly smitten with the mother of his child; his Twitter profile describes him as the 'other half @Roxi_lee' and also carries the words 'Family First' with a loveheart emoji.

The 24-year-old midfielder got down on one knee to ask Leah for her hand in marriage
Glamorous couple Leah Richards and Matty James got spliced in New York last autumn and blonde Leah's Twitter timeline certainly suggests the high life.
When she's not celebrating the hen party of Becky Nicholson, set to wed Jamie Vardy, she's dining at upmarket restaurants including Sketch in London's West End.
Leah's clearly been watching every kick of the campaign closely; ahead of Sunday's thriller against Manchester United, she posted on Twitter: 'Nerves kicking in' followed by four emojis including two with gritted teeth. Her man wasn't involved on the pitch though; James is still recovering from injury.

King Claudio Ranieri! European papers pay tribute to Leicester 'miracle' after historic Premier League title triumph
By Joe Strange for MailOnline
Leicester's Premier League title win is a 'miracle' according to papers in Spain, while Claudio Ranieri has been hailed as the 'king of England' in Italy.
News of the Foxes' historic achievement is carried on the front pages of many of Europe's sports newspapers on Tuesday after Tottenham's draw at Chelsea confirmed them as champions.
And Ranieri, who was born in Rome, is the focus of attention in his home country, with La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport both using the headline 'King Claudio'.
La Gazetta dello Sport (left) and Corriere dello Sport both use the headline 'King Claudio' on their front pages
La Gazzetta say that former Juventus boss Ranieri will be in 'paradise' today and describe his first title triumph as a 'planetary achievement'.
Corriere dello Sport say that Leicester finishing the season top is a 'marvellous fairytale', while Tuttosport believe Ranieri has 'entered legend' and is now the king of English football.
Over in Spain, Mundo Deportivo dedicate much of their front page to Leicester's unlikely victory, with a huge picture of supporters celebrating and images of the players at Jamie Vardy's house after Guus Hiddink's men fought back to earn a 2-2 draw with Spurs.
They use the headline 'Leicester miracle' and describe the new Premier League champions as 'modest' and as having a 'small budget'.
Tuttosport (left) say Ranieri is 'the king of England', while Mundo Deportivo describe Leicester as a 'miracle'
L'Equipe (left) use an image of Leicester's stars celebrating, with Marca calling their title victory a 'fairytale'
Marca use the top of their front page to pay tribute to the Foxes, with the headline 'Oleicester' as a clever play on words to celebrate the most unlikely of title wins.
They also describe the East Midlands outfit as 'modest' and say that Ranieri's men finishing top of the table is the 'greatest feat in modern football'.
French paper L'Equipe use a big photo of Riyad Mahrez and Co celebrating in Vardy's kitchen under a headline - in English - of 'So good!'.
Leicester's title win has also made waves over in Portugal, with A Bola carrying a small story on their front page with the simple headline 'Leicester champions'.
Spanish publication AS say that Leicester's title win is 'the miracle of the century', while their website believe it will have 'struck a chord with anyone who has dreamed of doing something remarkable'.
There's only three Jamie Vardys! Car salesman is mobbed by Leicester fans who think he is their star striker... while another lookalike is invited on board the team bus
A car salesman was mobbed by excited Leicester City fans last night who surrounded his vehicle thinking he was the club's star striker Jamie Vardy.
Ian Haughey, a Leicester fan from Derby who bears a remarkable resemblance to the England footballer, drove to the team's King Power Stadium yesterday ahead of their title triumph.
But as Mr Haughey started to drive away from the ground last night he was bemused as his car became encircled by supporters who thought he was the 29-year-old striker.

Surrounded: Mr Haughey had driven to Leicester's King Power Stadium yesterday ahead of their title triumph
Mr Haughey, who says his colleagues have often joked that he looks like Vardy, was eventually given a police escort away from the stadium following the hilarious case of mistaken identity.
Today, he told : 'I am a Leicester fan. I'm from Derby and I came down yesterday thinking there'll be an opportunity for them to win, so I thought 'right, why not, I'll come down'.
'And then next minute I was in my car on my way home and I got crowded - there was no way of me getting out. It was exciting.'
Meanwhile a real Vardy lookalike called Lee Chapman, who works as a postman, was also left stunned after the Leicester team bus stopped and let him onboard ahead of their celebratory lunch.
Mr Chapman, 29, was left speechless after he was invited him on board by Claudio Ranieri, who quipped: 'Come on Jamie, get on the bus.' He later posed for a picture with Vardy himself.
The season ticket holder of ten years was then driven to the manager's favourite Italian restaurant where he got to celebrate with his heroes as they enjoyed a beer on the bus.

Shocked: Mr Chapman's face was a picture when he was invited on board the Leicester team bus today
The real deal: Vardy celebrates scoring for Leicester against Aston Villa in the Premier League last September
He said: 'I got on and just burst into tears for only the second time in my life, the first was when my son was born. I have been a Leicester fan since I was a child.
'I was just so overwhelmed to be on the same bus as the Premier League winning side. I have got to be the luckiest Leicester fan in the world. I was just in shock and awe and most of it is still a blur.
'They were just a normal bunch of lads having a laugh and enjoying the moment with a beer after training. I was sitting next to Vardy, with Schmeichel and Wes Morgan behind me.
'They were all laughing and taking the mickey out of Vardy saying that I was better looking than him. Ranieri was saying 'yalla shoot now (vimeo.com) I have two Jamie Vardys' and joking how good the strike force could be.
Vardy may have played himself into the starting line-up for England at Euro 2016 after his 24 goals this season, two of which came in his country's matches against Germany and Holland.
The footballer played host to his team-mates at his home in Melton Mowbray as they watched their side become Premier League champions last night despite 5,000-1 odds at the start of the season.
The ragtag bunch of has-beens, rejects and unknowns who slayed the giants of English football to become Premier League champions... crowning a David and Goliath fairytale which may yet be turned into a Hollywood movie
It was a storybook ending worthy of the most magical of fairytales, a ragtag team of 5,000-1 outsiders triumphing over English football's elite.
The riches of Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United were no match for the heart and band of brothers team spirit of little old Leicester - a club tipped for relegation last August but now ruling over the giants of the Premier League.
To put the triumph into context, bookmakers were offering shorter odds for Elvis to be found alive and well and even for Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to be crowned the winner of Big Brother than the price for Leicester to top the league come the end of the season.
Here MailOnline takes a closer look at some the players who have taken the Foxes to what is a barely believable glory.
Jamie Vardy (29)
Vardy was released by Sheffield Wednesday in 2002, moving to non-league Stocksbridge Park Steels. Then, after he scored 31 goals in 36 games for Fleetwood, Leicester spent £1million on him.
He did not know his biological father until last year, and was convicted of assault in 2007 and fitted with an ankle tag, meaning he had to be substituted early during away evening games to avoid breaching a curfew. There are rumours that his story could be turned into a Hollywood film.
Christian Fuchs (30)
The experienced Fuchs spent the entirety of his career in Austria and Germany before he signed for Leicester in the summer. He found out the manager who convinced him to join, Nigel Pearson, was sacked before the left back even entered the country.
The 29-year-old is regarded as a dressing room joker and has become a hit on social media with his hashtag '#NoFuchsGiven' and his love of a selfie.
Danny Simpson (29)
Simpson was more famous at one point for dating former N-Dubz member and X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos, a relationship that ended very acrimoniously and publicly.
Simpson was also left bloodied and unconscious in the streets of Manchester after a night out in 2013. He and another customer at Rice Flamebar and Grill got into a fight while queuing for a kebab.
Kasper Schmeichel (29)
The son of a goalkeeping legend in Peter, he spent time on loan at the likes of Darlington, Bury and Falkirk before making his Manchester City debut.
The 29-year-old is considered a leader in Leicester's dressing room, and had an influence in their decision to visit Copenhagen for their Christmas party, when the squad dressed as cartoon characters and superheroes.
Riyad Mahrez (25)
Mahrez was playing in the French fourth-tier back in 2009. He then moved to Le Havre and only cost Leicester £450,000 in January 2014 but is now attracting interest from the likes of Barcelona.
He was valued at over £30million during the winter window this season and may be worth even more now.
Wes Morgan (32)
The captain of the league leaders, Morgan was rejected by Notts County at the age of 15.
He was so overweight during a later trial at Nottingham Forest that the academy manager, John Pemberton, had to hide him from manager Paul Hart, who said he did not want a player who looked like that on trial.
While the rest of his Leicester team-mates spent time in the sun during their recent break, the 32-year-old instead spent a week coaching children in Nottingham as part of his soccer school.
Robert Huth (31)
Huth made his professional debut at Chelsea in 2002 after being plucked from the Union Berlin youth system by Claudia Ranieri.
But he fell down the pecking order and played for Middlesbrough and Stoke before joining Leicester.
Huth tends to sleep on his way back from training, having hired a driver to take him between Manchester and the Midlands.
N'Golo Kante (25)
Kante has had plenty of lower league experience in his native France. In 2013 he played for US Boulogne in the third tier before moving to SM Caen in Ligue 2.
Leicester took a punt on him for£5.6million. No player in the Premier League has made more interceptions or made more tackles than Kante this season, a key aspect of his game. He has broken up moves 116 times and made 86 successful tackles.
